Brian Leiter在哲學部落格中轉載了一個議題,內容是一位宗教哲學的教授,發信向一般哲學系教授推銷其所製作的一系列課程。當學生購買課程(24.99美金),授課教授取得45%,然後製作課程的教授取得45%,剩下10%用來維護網站等等,這位宗教哲學的教授稱之為雙贏局面。然而,卻有教授不這樣想。Jonathan Cohen給了很嚴厲的回應:

That you offer to share the profits with me makes things worse rather than better. While there can be situations in which professors appropriately assign materials that earn them (e.g., royalty) income, these situations are defensible only if (unlike the situation here) there is a plausible intellectual case for the particular materials chosen. And, if anything, the justificatory bar should be higher than usual in such cases. By offering a payoff to the instructor, you are positively inviting instructors to make choices for the wrong sorts of reasons (viz., non-intellectual ones), at the direct financial and intellectual expense of the very students placed in our care.(按此閱讀!
